Job Title: Power Solutions Sales Specialist

Company: Gentech Field Services

  • Gentech Field Services is a leading Canadian power generation company that has proudly served the City of Calgary and its surrounding areas for over a decade. We specialise in providing reliable, temporary power generation solutions, featuring an extensive fleet of properly maintained mobile rental generators tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

    Gentech offers preventative maintenance and emergency service for commercial generators and fire pumps in high rise buildings, warehouses, condominiums, and commercial buildings. We provide solutions for construction companies, developers, and home builders to manage their fleets of portable power equipment.

  • We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Sales Representative to join our Power Generation team. This role is responsible for promoting and selling generator maintenance services, generator sales, and rental solutions to commercial and industrial clients.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in technical sales, strong relationship-building skills, and a solid understanding of power generation equipment and services. This is a team-driven, on-site role — Gentech does not offer work from home options.

  • Sales and Business Development:

    • Proven sales experience, preferably in power generation, industrial equipment, or related technical fields.

    • Identify and develop new business opportunities in target markets.

    • Work with technical staff to provide clients with job assessments, application solutions, equipment sizing and professional estimates.

    • Conduct market research to understand customer needs and industry trends.

    • Follow up with clients on sales, repairs and recommendations, clarifying questions and providing ongoing support.

    Technical Expertise:

    • Provide guidance to clients regarding product features, specifications, and applications.

    • Collaborate with the engineering and product development teams to address technical questions and resolve issues.

    Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.

    • Manage the sales pipeline from lead generation to closing deals.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records and prepare regular reports of sales activities, customer interactions, and sales progress in CRM systems.

    Training and Development:

    • Stay current with industry advancements and emerging technologies through ongoing training and professional development.

    • Keep up to date with changes regarding industry standards and regulations (e.g. CSA 282-15, NFPA-25) and educate customers on code requirements.

    • A self-starter who thrives on hunting new business, meeting quotas, and closing deals

    • Knowledge of power generation / diesel engines / generators and maintenance services is preferred.

    • Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal and written)

    • Exceptional relationship building and customer service skills

    • Strong planning, negotiation and problem-solving skills

    • Effectively manage multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.

    • Must be a collaborative team player with a positive and proactive attitude.

    • Must be self-motivated and able to perform well under minimal supervision.

    • Ability to create, design and execute advertising campaigns.

    • Experience with Field Service Management Software / Microsoft Office / Teams.

    • Willingness to travel as needed.

    • A valid, clean driver's license (required)

    • Bonus: Experience with managing or contributing to social media content (LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) is an asset — especially for promoting company visibility, engaging clients, or sharing project success stories

    Pay Structure:

    • Negotiable based on experience. Compensation will vary depending on individual experience and competency.

    Experience:                         

    • Sales Representative in similar industry 3+ years (preferred)

    • Previous equipment sales 2 year (preferred)

    • Mechanical / Electrical knowledge (preferred)
